Raising Public Awareness
Critical Public Policy Analysis, Proposing Policy Solutions

Advocating for public policies to provide the essential resources of a livable city; affordable housing, neighborhood character, parks and transit through responsible development.

Make New York
Affordable Again

New York City is losing its essential livability; affordable housing, neighborhood character and access to adequate parks and transit. The current solutions being proposed are skewed towards benefiting the real estate industry instead of real New Yorkers.

United we stand

We are a coalition of urbanists, affordable housing advocates, preservationists, environmentalists, park promoters and concerned citizens uniquely positioned to guide the public discussion about how our city needs to evolve to remain the vital, sustainable place we all want it to be.

About us

The Campaign for a Livable City is dedicated to keeping New York City affordable and ensuring robust environments that deliver for residents while retaining the unique character that makes our neighborhoods special. Every New Yorker deserves a stable, affordable place to live with easy access to sufficient resources such as schools, grocery stores, and mass transit.

We don’t need to choose between affordable and livability - New York City can and must do both. We can keep more residents in their homes, promote responsible development, and keep the character and elements that make our neighborhoods some of the most unique and vibrant communities in the world.

We believe that New York City needs a new, thoughtful approach to planning that properly takes into account the importance of allowing more New Yorkers to remain in the communities they call home, the need for easy access to daily amenities, and the unique urban topography and built character.

our Goals

• Ensure all New Yorkers have access to affordable housing.

• Eliminate displacement by preserving existing affordable housing, providing access to counsel for any New York facing eviction, and aggressively enforcing robust tenant protections.

• Equip every neighborhood with a fulsome built environment, so that all communities have essential resources like schools, parks, affordable fresh produce, and healthcare infrastructure.

• Establish firm guidelines for sustainable, rational development.

• Empower residents to allow for more community-driven planning.
